New Challenge to the Students

As Coach Gauff told the students during Announcements on Friday afternoon, on behalf of the Advancement Office, the Administration, the Faculty and Staff, we are so incredibly proud of our student body.  When the Campaign Challenge was announced in August, the students immediately hatched the idea of $5 Spirit Dress every week to raise money for the Challenge.  When they told Coach Gauff their goal was $9000, he laughed and said it was a great idea but they should lower it because they would never get that much.  On Friday, when the last penny was counted from the students, they surpassed their goal and raised $9060 simply through their Spirit Dress fundraiser.  That contribution put the total raised thus far in the Challenge at more than $235,000.

Today, a member of our community heard about this amazing effort from the students and has challenged them to raise a little more TOMORROW - Monday, September 30th.  This benefactor will match the student contributions up to $12000.  Let's do the math - if the kids bring in $2940, and we get the full $12000 match, then we will reach the $250,000 that we had to make by September 30th.  So we challenge the kids to rally the troops one more time.

As an incentive, the Administration has decided that if the students can raise $2940 TOMORROW (basically $10 each) then there will be EARLY DISMISSAL EVERY DAY DURING HOMECOMING WEEK.  Monday - Thursday dismissal time will be at 2:13pm as per the pep rally schedule, and Friday will be the traditional dismissal between 1:00 and 1:15pm.

This Campaign Challenge has been an amazing time to watch the STA Family come together to WIN!! There are no words to express the appreciation we have for all of you and your efforts to advance the mission of STA.
