STA Robotics Team Finishes 2nd in VEX Competition

The STA Robotics Team competed this weekend in the local "Nothing But Net" VEX Robotics Competition at Holy Cross High School in New Orleans. Vex Competitions, presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, are composed of teams of students tasked with designing and building a robot to play against other teams locally, regionally, nationally, and eventually from around the world in a game-based engineering challenge. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test on the playing field as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more.

"Big Ed" Receives Honorary Jersey for 2016 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game

Senior football player Edwin Alexander was presented his honorary game jersey at the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2016 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game. The event is part of the three-month American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the Under Armour All-America Game.

Glenn "Butch" Bartels and Courtney Dawsey were recently named School Winners for the prestigious Wendy's High School Heisman Award which highlights exceptional high school seniors and their achievements in the classroom, on the field and in the community. Bartels and Dawsey will move on for consideration in the next stage of the program where they could be named a State Finalist. 

Student Council Donates To Fallen Officers Fund

As part of their Homecoming Week festivities, the STA Student Council hosted "Red, White, and 'Back the Blue'" Day. Students purchased a $2 "Back the Blue" wristband and were able to dress in patriotic attire. Pictured with the student body are Lieutenant Glenn Hauck, Sergeant George Bergeron, and Lieutenant Charles Deliberto with the Hammond Police Department. They are receiving a $650 donation to the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund from Student Council Secretary Jacob Deliberto and President Chloe Chauvin.

STA INTRODUCES COMMUNITY WIDE 5K COLOR RUN

St. Thomas Aquinas announces its first “My School Color Run,” scheduled for Saturday, October 17th, with late registration beginning at 8am and the race beginning at 9am. The run is a traditional 5K throughout the STA campus, although walkers, joggers, and strollers are also welcomed.  After the race, everyone is encouraged to stick around for free jambalaya, fruit, water, Powerade, music, and raffles/giveaways.
