Sophomore Shannon Garrety becomes published author

Sophomore Shannon Garrety has written and published her first novel, and will autograph copies at Bayou Booksellers on August 31 from 10 a.m. until noon.  Copies are also available online.  Shannon wrote Love and Death when she was just 14 and worked with a professional editor through AG Press when she was 15.

Her goal was to get the book published before her 16th birthday -- a goal which she accomplished.  AG Press specializes in publishing young adult authors. Her book is considered young adult fiction.  It is the story of a girl who loses her best friend and her journey to recover.

Shannon is a volunteer at the Amite library and is a state finalist on the STA swim team.
