STA student honored as Eagle Scout

STA senior Juan Valenzuela, Jr., was recently honored for earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting. In 2011, only five percent of all Boy Scouts earned the Eagle Scout rank.

Juan has earned 39 Merit Badges, and has received numerous special recognitions and awards such as Pope Pius XII Award, Youth Leader Training, American Red Cross CPR/First Aid, Brotherhood Order of the Arrow member, and Den Chief Service Award, just to name a few.

For his Eagle Scout project, Juan worked at the American Legion Hall in Loranger. He replaced the wooden boards that had rotted in the eves and rewired and added conduit to exposed wires on the outside of the building. Juan also replaced the vent and signage along with repainting the exterior walls.

Juan’s positions of responsibility as a Boy Scout are Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol Leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, and Summer Camp Staff.
