Starlettes Shine at UDA Camp!

The STA Starlettes had a great showing at the UDA Convention Camp in Baton Rouge, LA June 25-28! Through their performances at camp, the Starlettes earned a bid to the 2013 National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, Florida. During their week in Baton Rouge, the Starlettes learned choreography to use throughout the year, bonded as a new team, and enjoyed getting to work with other dance teams in the state. “UDA Camp this year was a great experience. We came together as a team and not only worked hard, but had a great time. We had a lot of great competition, and now we know what we need to do to accomplish our goals for this year,” said Senior Captain Brooke Downing.
The Starlettes earned a UDA Superior Trophy and received the“Super Spirit Stick.” Four senior Starlettes, Brooke Downing, Karlie King, Kodi Labat, and Taylor Drude, were selected as UDA All Americans. Each Starlette shined on the final Evaluation day of camp as all received two blue ribbons in their individual routine evaluations. On the first night of camp, the Starlettes competed against top teams not only in the state, but in the nation in the Home Routine Competition. The Starlettes were awarded a blue superior ribbon and third place for their clean and aggressive routine. “I was really proud of how the girls danced and shined throughout the week. This was a great way to start off the year, and we’re ready to get in gear for the rest of the season,”said Starlette Coach Carley Cryer.
